Born out of protest...

If while reading the story, you found yourself siding with the authorities and thinking that the protesters should have dispersed when ordered and or that the protesters, armed with dirt and sticks, deserve to be met with deadly force by armed law enforcement, be aware that you chose the side of the tyrant King George III, not the American Patriots. Ponder that

A profound story about protests...

Shami. Thank you for posting that. I went and read up about the Boston Massacre after hearing your post and just wanted to add a few more data points. It took 22 days, days and a lot of protest before charges were finally brought against the soldiers. And then when it came to forming the defense team, they decided to pick a Patriot, John Adams, to defend the soldiers. It will be interesting to see what happens in this case

What I found most interesting about that article was the excuse that the security forces feared for their lives. I thought that was a relatively new development in in the justice system when it came to police brutality. But I'm surprised to learn that that is an old defense tactic. Thanks, that

#georgefloyd #history Have things really changed 250 yrs later?

History does repeat itself. I suppose the circumstances might have been different back then and now. But as Danny So rightly pointed out, what's more telling is how John Adam defended the British soldiers back then, which in the present day would be the same sort of justification that the cops feared for their lives and all that. So the narrative is not new. It's centuries old. And that's what is shocking and saddening that nothing much has changed over other years

Can we hope for critical thinking by more than just a few? #protests #media

There's a flow of imagery and language and voices that we can't compare to. Other times, social media has enabled this new version of protest to spread and be amplified. I would normally say, that's the best thing in other world because, oh, my God, didn't you see that? That's what happened. This is the truth. Why isn't this a Slam dunk?
