Season 5 of Eat My Globe, my food history podcast, launches today.

I shall put the link to it into the description here so you can click to it straight away. But I hope you don't listen to it. And maybe if you haven't listened before, go and listen to some of the past episodes as well, we spend a lot of time trying to get this absolutely right. So we hope you have fun listening to it. Thanks so much. Take care

Hi, Simon. It's Michelle from Hapfork will travel. I just want to say thanks for the new episode. It's on my playlist for first thing in the morning. It's a great way to start the day and make the workweek go a little bit better. I kind of wish this episode had come out when I was taking a history class a couple of years ago. It would have been a great way to get extra credit on assignments. Have a wonderful day

Wonderful episode 🙏

Simon Superbius. I believe that's how you want it to be referred to. The episode was fantastic. I have just one follow up question. If you know the answer to eating as they did, how long did they live for? What was the average age expectancy of people in those times? Just wondered if you knew, but it was a lovely episode. Episode. Thank you so much. Bye

But certainly you did have problems with people overeating and having to be kind of countered for their overindulgence with some of these very big meals, although with some there was an air of austerity. One of the things about the Patricians was they had an air of austerity. If you read Cicero, he talks about that quite a lot. And they actually kind of frowned food upon overindulgence. And that was seen as a not terribly good thing to do. So it's a difficult question to answer
