What if we renamed Instagram to it would be more of a cut throat, more of a I think creativity would die because when it's about going viral and getting those clicks, it's not necessarily about how creative you are when creating or what's in a brand name. Wonder how far down on the list of priorities? Is it that vibe or where the app could go? Like, the future of that app is actually considered because, yes, you have to target your audience

What if we renamed Instagram to... #thepowerofwords #influence #culture #branding

Hindsight is always 20/20. @SeekingPlumb

Even the direction of Instagram to where it's going, where it's heading. It is important now to understand, because of the cause and effect of the popularity of Instagram, they have in some ways made decisions for better or worse to affect the platform, such as fact checking. Now that's a real big thing. I'm seeing people flagged all the time posting memes that are having things insinuating stuff. That's not true. They have these third parties that will come through and flag check it

Hindsight + consider possibilities. @Dewuan.Is.Soft

So this imaginary app is kind of a hypothetical, like if you were to create an app today with the hindsight of where Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, all of the social media apps have come from. And now you want to create a new kind of social media app. You have the benefit of all that you've learned there

πŸ€” @SeekingPlumb

It is comprised of people. But these people keep their jobs by making more money, keeping people on the internet. They just have to do that ultimately. But maybe they can find other variant ways of, I don't know, getting people to put their phones down and enjoy life

The model, herself. Humanism vs Capitalism. @Dewuan.Is.Soft

Like, ideally, it would be amazing to live in a place and a time in a universe where the goal was really about people. I guess when it gets down to it, I'm a humanist. I'm really about the people about building community and society for better people. But because we live in this particular world and the population is so large, you can't really rely on trade. So money is the necessary evil

Break up the Social Media Monopoly? @SeekingPlumb

But that's why it's great that people like you are in the world, because if it was more people like me, it would be like Draconian. Although I'm not a hardcore humanist like you, I do want to see people reach their best potential possible. And maybe for some people, they need more regulation from these social app companies. And what can they do and not do in terms of driving down the addiction to a certain degree, much as we had to regulate cocaine. Right
@SeekingPlumb

Social media & the future. Regs that protect the user. @Dewuan.Is.Soft

Can you imagine the implementation that could happen with that? And these apps 40 or 50 years from now? I mean, maybe these types of things will be closer to us than that period of time and something even more crazy or impressive would be available in 40 or 50 years anyway. Interesting, even the idea of whether those apps will still be around or not the social media will social media go by the wayside at some point. Speaking of regulation, that's another interesting point
