My feathered friends with very distinct personalities.

Ever since then, he has spent so much time in this tree just beyond my balcony watching me. And it's the strangest thing. It's a little unnerving, but something he started doing this past year, which I think is very sweet, but just amazing that a bird would do this. I have a crazy sleep schedule. Sometimes I sleep at night, sometimes it's during the day

I love happy animals! (And happy people. πŸ˜†)

That is exactly why I started putting birds down. I call it cat TV, but maybe it would be more appropriately called bird TV. I haven't decided. You know what? When the Magpie first started tapping beside my window, so I thought he was trying to get my cat's attention because my dresser is there and Bart will jump up on the dresser and then push his face between the blinds and the window and peak out

I've just had the opportunity to watch these Barrows that would keep building their nest over a chimney outlet that I have at home. And over a period of years, they've raised their young, several batches of their young, and also, over a period of time, they overcame their fear and would let me be around them. My presence wouldn't really affect them. But what you have here is something very rare and special. You have Frank actually looking over you. He cares for you

Welcome to Swell!

@SeekingPlumb

πŸ˜† Exactly! We wouldn't have it any other way. @MerelyHuman

My balcony is over the back alley, and so across the way, there's another apartment building, and the turnover is frequent. So a couple of summers ago, there was a guy who was dealing drugs. I called him the Candy Man, and he had quite a temper. And one time it's the middle of the night. And I have that weird sleep schedule. So my lights are on. And in the middle of the night, the guy is out there yelling at somebody
@SeekingPlumb

I love that, @wordsmith!

And I suppose this is a poker player in me, but it looks like if you flip it upside down, like he's holding a handful of birds and just such an amazing coloring. And he looks kind of fluffy and he snuggles with the cat. I'm just like, wow, since it's Bart's first summer experiencing the balcony and being able to go outside where the birds are, he doesn't have quite the same response when he sees them as that kid. He did
@SeekingPlumb

Good point, @MerelyHuman.

That's a good point. Merely human. Like I. I sometimes think that because we have encroached on their world. You know, it's an honor that they decide they're going to interact with us. And I realized like that some of that encroachment has happened a long time ago, maybe when a settlement or a city was first established, but still, it's an encroachment just remaining there. So for them to give us that honor is such a gift
