Second most listened to episode. #advancedreadercopy

article image placeholder‎Living A Life Through Books: S2E17 - ARCs and bookish thoughts with Monique Lahaie on Apple Podcasts
So, yeah, I think this episode is very popular because the person I'm interviewing, obviously, she shared it quite a bit, but everyone shares it. I think this one's really popular because it's been a question, how do you get arcs advanced reader copies? And I really learned a lot from talking to her. And then after this episode, I took a dive and I went ahead and emailed the publisher. And, yeah, it's kind of crazy

Before I actually go to the podcast and listen, I did want to point out that I do exactly what you said. I when somebody recommends a podcast or podcaster to me, I go straight to episode one, and I'm not really sure why why I do that. But I think podcasters and podcasting have something unique

Netgalley!

So that really was a great discussion on Arcs on your podcast episode. Super Informative loved it. So I think at least in India, getting an arc is isn't as structured a process as it is out there. So book bloggers here generally put their information on their blogs, and they sometimes are contacted either by the publishers or by the orders themselves for a copy of yet to be released or even just released book in exchange for an honest review. So that's generally how things happen here

Getting a book sleeve pronto!

So it really breaks my heart to see how my books have to end that kind of a treatment. So if I were to have such book protectors with me, then I could make sure that these pressured possessions of mine don't, you know, get treated badly, and they last for ages and ages. Thank you

First episode, Netgalley and book accessories @phil, @namelessjournal

And I do want to say that I have another episode on my podcast called Net Galley, so you may want to listen to that, but that's just me talking about everything that I know about Net Galley, and I've been on Net Galley for a bit now. It's good. So there is that yes, book sleeves. They're great. I love my book tags

There's TV commercials, I see ads on the web when I click on various sites. But I don't see that with books. And so it got me thinking, well, how are books marketed? And other than getting on the New York Times bestseller list, is it just word of mouth? And if it is, then sending advanced reader copies to podcasts and book reviewers makes a lot of sense

#theprintedwordthrives

And I sort of see this as a kind of base that probably they would wish to build among the readers for the writer, just as a lot of public relations outreach is done. Pr outreach is done by PR companies. This is quite an interesting and strategic initiative, and it's quite commendable that there are readers who do Avidly wait for this printed copy and still love getting hold of a printed copy freshly out of the press. It's really heartwarming to hear this. Thank you

Most listened to episode. My ARC journey!

But I started recognizing a lot of these books that I couldn't get access to, and I wondered what is going on. So then I started obviously investigating and I found out about this whole arc process. Now the interesting thing is, actually, I didn't find out about arc process. I found out what an arc was. So the moment you find out what an arc is, you want it. So then I went and I was like, how do I get it?

#startatthebeginning #chronologicalorder #iloveorderinthings

So regarding being a new listener to a podcast, why I go to the first episode is, first of all, I'm not an avid listener of podcast podcast for me. I see you perhaps the podcaster, if I may call them that when they are on their journey, they might review things not particularly about the topic. But there might be a story which is going on which might continue from episode one through whichever episode

I don't know, pieces of instruction or bite size something. So like, for example, in my podcast, I could talk about a book review, one book, and then the second time I talk about a different book, the only way it would affect you if you listen to it chronic illogically or otherwise is if in the second book review I mentioned remember the book review when I did that first book and I talked about that. Well, this book has this and then that little mention
