Person dies after consuming nothing but black licorice

article image placeholderThe strange case of the man who died after eating too much licorice
It used to be used throughout history as something that was seen as therapeutic. But if you eat too much of it, this can lower blood pressure. This can affect heart rate, it can affect heart rhythm. It can actually cause a lot of serious problems. And this man, unfortunately, seemed to eat nothing but licorice for about a week and a half, and in the end, because he had such a poor diet, it impacted him

And I guess in this situation we have specific circumstances of his health and his diet. But I was pretty taken aback that it actually had occurred. And I also was reminded that it's a good thing that I don't enjoy joy licorice because I tend to over consume things sometimes

:😞 other foods to watch out for?

I was wondering if there's other I know there's other things that we can eat. Too much of that kill us, obviously. But there are also naturally occurring seeds inside certain fruits I heard that are poisonous. Not to make this thread about anything else but the loss of this, dear man. But I'm just wonder how many of you guys know of things that are naturally occurring, that if you eat too much, you die

You can overdo sugar, and that can kill you. As Simon said, it looks like this gentleman only consumed licorice root for a prolonged period of time, which obviously will lead to other health causes. But I just want you to know that it's actually got medicinal properties, so it's not something to avoid, like the plague, but it's like everything else to be looked in proportion to everything else that you're eating

I've read that cruciferous vegetables, including kale and cauliflower and broccoli, can be harmful if you eat a lot of it. If you have hyperthyroidism or thyroid issues because apparently it interferes with how the thyroid uses Iodine. So who knew you could eat too much kale

Chubbyemu & extreme medical cases.

So I watch a lot of medical YouTube channels. One of them has a funny name, but I promise you it is legitimate. It's called Chubby Emu. Emu is obviously spelled Emu. And the last also know I saw by them was about a student who only ate French fries for ten years. And it was really fascinating. Definitely very scary. It's important, I think, though, that people watch these type of channels because it shows how absolutely delicate our nutrition truly is as well

You are what you eat: The story of the Licorice Man in a coffin

There's a reason that a French Fry from McDonald's looks the exact same a year and a half later that you find it in the backseat of your car. And that's a scary deal there. There's so many preservatives and Lord knows what else that they're not telling us that we need to become aware of this and stop putting in our bodies because it is true. We are are what we eat. And if you eat enough black licorice, apparently you become one in a coffin
